Our residents at Evergreen home range in our age from forty to eighty. Our skills and abilities vary. We have residents that enjoy preparing their own meals with minimal support and others who require staff total assistance. Some of the residents have been challenged with mobility issues and with the assistance from Department of Community services have provided the tools to be able to be independent ie: hand rails, walkers, wheelchairs, hospital beds and walk-in showers. Those of us who enjoy a bath there is special lights and sensory items provided.
Community inclusion is very important to us, we enjoy shopping, dining at local restaurants, walks on trails, bowling and we enjoy the outdoor pool at the A.R.C. in the summer months. The pool always has a licenced lifeguard and a chair lift for those of us who struggle getting in and out of the pool.
We have weekly entertainment come to our home for music/pet therapy. In the colder months we enjoy indoor activities such as Prize Bingo, crafts, board / card games, knitting, coloring and movie night with treats. On special occasions we celebrate by ordering take-out.
Where we live on-site we enjoy visiting our friends at the A.R.C. and the other on-site homes.
We have a sunroom in our home and when our family comes to visit we have a quit area to enjoy the visit.
When we are not feeling well we rely on nursing staff to assess us and we have a doctor who makes weekly rounds.
The staff members provide and assist us to reach our goals and promote a safe, and happy environment.
Some of us work off-sit at Summer Street Industries and enjoy all the activities/events and programs they have to offer. Our favorite activity is the monthly dances. We travel to and from work via Chad bus service.
